Prof. Mary Horgan is Chief Medical Officer at Ireland’s Department of Health, where she provides strategic clinical leadership and expert advice on public health policy, patient safety and the delivery of health services nationwide. A consultant in infectious diseases by background, she has extensive experience across clinical practice, academia and health system governance.
Prior to her appointment as Chief Medical Officer, Pro. Horgan served as President of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, becoming the first woman to hold the role in its history. She has also held senior academic positions and has contributed significantly to medical education and professional standards in Ireland.
