Dr. Sheelah Connolly

Dr. Sheelah Connolly is a Associate Research Professor at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Trinity College Dublin. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from Queens University Belfast and a Master’s in Health Economics from the University of York (England). Over the past twenty years, she has worked in various academic position across the UK and Ireland and has published more than seventy peer-reviewed publications in the areas of health system reform, the economics of ageing and the social and economic determinants of health.

At the ESRI Sheelah leads a programme of research, funded by the Department of Health, which seeks to provide evidence for the reform of the Irish healthcare system. Current projects include an update of the 2018 health service capacity review and an assessment of the cost implications of introducing universal healthcare.
