Dr. Deirdre Collins
Chair of the Board | Irish College of GPs
Dr. Deirdre was appointed as Chair of the Board Irish College of GPs in June 2023. The College is the representative body for GPs in Ireland on education, training and standards. The Board determines the strategic direction of the College and is responsible for its implementation and monitoring.
Prior to this she was Chair of the College’s Education Governance Standing Committee. Her time as Chair of Education Governance saw the Committee provide oversight for the expansion of the Education team and the delivery of traditional and blended learning for members in a rapidly changing educational environment.
The College is actively pursuing the development of a Leadership Academy to develop, support and sustain leadership at all levels of General Practice in Ireland.
Deirdre is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and completed her GP training in Dublin. She is a founding partner of a multidoctor training and teaching practice in her hometown of Kilcullen, Co. Kildare.
As committee member and former chairperson of KDoc Out of Hours Co-Operative she has a role in GP liaison with Naas General Hospital. She is also Chair of the Kildare West Wicklow Integrated Care Committee.
