Chief Medical Physicist and Radiation Protection Advisor

Mr. Luke Rock is the Chief Medical Physicist and Radiation Protection Advisor for the Beacon Hospital. Having completed a residency programme at St. Luke’s Hospital, Dublin, Mr Rock took a medical physicist position at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Mr Rock was certified as a Therapeutic Radiological Physicist by the American Board of Radiology in 2006. Upon returning to Ireland, Mr Rock worked at the University College Hospital Galway, where he commissioned Ireland’s first IMRT programme, prior to moving to the Beacon Hospital where he oversaw the implementation of Ireland’s first SBRT programme.

Mr Rock has presented research at several national and international conferences and has published in peer reviewed journals. He is a member of several national and international organisations including the Irish and American Associations for Physicists in Medicine and the Irish College of Physics in Medicine.
