Chief information officer,
Joanna Smith, who has over 20 years’ experience leading IT programmes in the pharmaceutical sector, was appointed to the role of chief information officer in January 2013.
She began her career in the banking sector, before joining Roche. She initially worked in HR, and sales and marketing, before moving into IT and rising to lead corporate information technology business development, and latterly holding the position of head of informatics and global customer support, sales and marketing. She ran her own business from 2005 to 2007 and was headhunted by one of her clients, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, to direct information technology for the European research and development business between 2007 and 2012.
Joanna leads the Trust’s IT and technology strategy, to improve the quality of patient care, knowledge management and research.
