Gary Walker is an independent healthcare and business consultant. Having worked for over 25 years across sectors, and as a director and chief executive of several NHS trusts, his career has seen him lead turnarounds of some of the most financially troubled organisations, with serious performance issues, returning them to robust health and ensuring they deliver better care for patients.
In his current business, he coaches chief executives, senior leadership teams and board members, working with them to set performance goals and supporting all members of the team to help deliver strategic change and higher levels of performance.
Gary has expertise in leadership, performance, diagnostics and turnaround. His strength is in working with senior teams to devise and deliver strategic partnership solutions, working on cost improvement initiatives and service redesign while enhancing operational efficiency.
He has recent experience of delivering improvement programmes not only for healthcare organisations but also for a global charity. He has worked with RQIA in Northern Ireland to carry out a review of its 14 health boards and analyse their culture, and has advised NHS England. He is a trustee of two UK charities, and has worked on strengthening governance, culture, systems and risk management. He has previously worked for the Department of Health and Quo, an international behaviour change specialist.
