Dr Brian Griffin is an international expert in valvular heart disease and cardiac imaging. Since 1993, Dr Griffin has been a cardiologist at the world renowned Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. For the last 16 years, Cleveland Clinic has ranked first in cardiovascular care on US News and World Reports annual ‘Best Hospital’ list. Dr Griffin serves as Director of Cardiovascular Disease Training Program and Physician Director of Development at Cleveland Clinic’s Heart and Vascular Institute. Dr Griffin has also served as Vice-Chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and has held the John and Rosemary Brown Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine since 2007. Dr Griffin’s research interest is in valvular heart disease and he has published seminal articles on the progression of aortic valve disease and on the nature of valve tissue abnormality in mitral valve prolapse. The cardiology fellowship training program that he directs is the largest and one of the most sought after in the United States. Many Irish cardiologists have received advanced training in cardiovascular medicine at Cleveland Clinic under his direction.
