Andy joined Answer having held senior positions within the NHS over 15 years from General Practice, PCTs, the National Programme for IT/HSCIC and most recently with NHS England working on Integrated Digital Care Record strategies. Andy therefore brings extensive knowledge and insight into current Health Informatics programmes and strategies at Board level.
At NHS England, Andy was instrumental in the Technology Funds, co-ordinating the assessment processes and chairing multi-disciplinary panels to discuss proposals with Chief Executives, DoFs, CIOs and CCIOs. Andy also initialised the NHS Open Source Programme, with the aim of educating on the principles of freedom associated with the model and encouraging the uptake of Open Source Solutions.
Previously Andy has led key national multi-disciplinary programme teams such as the Electronic Prescription Service, where he enabled the first end to end transfer of a digitally signed prescription within primary care and the NHS Business Services Authority Prescription Services via the NHS Spine.
Andy also successfully delivered the Calculating Quality Reporting System (CQRS), and promoted the QIPP Digital initiative which encouraged national and local NHS teams to exploit digital technology in order to accelerate delivery of their QIPP priorities using Interoperability principles and Integration standards.
