In January 2016 Laverne McGuinness took up the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Talbot Group who are leading providers of Nursing Home, Intellectual Disability and Acquired Brain Injury Services. Laverne’s objective is to lead the strategic development and operational excellence of the Group with a strong focus on quality service delivery.
Laverne has over 23 years’ experience in Health and Social Care and she is one of the most experienced senior leaders in the Health Sector in Ireland today. She was appointed as a National Director in the HSE in December 2004 holding a range of operational and strategic portfolios. Prior to taking up her role with the Talbot Group she held the position of Deputy Director General of the HSE from 2013 to 2016 and was responsible for leading many key strategic initiatives and developments.
Laverne has significant experience across a wealth of service and business areas arising from her various challenging roles in the Health Service. These include Business and Strategic Planning, Governance, Performance Management, Financial Management, Operational Delivery and Change management.
An accountant by profession, Laverne also holds an MSc from Dublin City University. She also has completed a number of Post Graduate Diplomas with the Michael Smurfit Business School in University College Dublin including Corporate Governance and Strategic Innovation and Change. She has also completed a number of Executive Leadership programmers including one with Harvard University.
In March 2017 Laverne was appointed to the Risk Committee of the HSE for a period of two years which operates under a charter of the Directorate.
